Let’s get started !
The first step is all about setting up the dimensions for your drawing, by using guiding lines you will be able to have a drawing that is well balanced and with appropriate dimensions.
Draw an ellipse for the head
Draw an unfinished ellipse right under the first one.
Add a small semi circle at the bottom, it doesn’t have to be perfect.
Continue by adding the curved lines as demonstrated above.
Notice how there is curved line that cuts the first 3 figures you drew in the beginning, do the same. In the next steps you will start to see your drawing come to life.
This is a more crucial step, as we are starting to work with finer details; great care should be taken to keep the proportions adequate.
Focus on the ellipse drawn in the first step and add shapes as demonstrated above.
Follow the example above and add more shapes. As you can see, these shapes are creating the blueprint for the final dimensions of the cat.
Notice the eyes and nose added in simple shapes.
After getting a general idea about the dimension of the cat, this is were we start adding life to the drawing.
You may now sketch and ink the cat with confidence, following the guiding lines to keep the right proportions.
Erase the guiding lines once you are satisfied with the art line.
Add colors in this step, don’t be afraid to experiment.
This is the final step. Add some shadows to make the drawing more realistic.
As mentioned in the beginning of the post, below you will find the pic collage of the steps to use a a reference.
